Opally has raised its first angel round. Five investors with deep experience building and scaling companies in hospitality, fintech, and AI are joining us for the next chapter.
They invested because Opally is already delivering results – hotels across Europe use Opally every day to handle guest communication across email, chat, voice, and social media.
Who is backing Opally
Every investor in this round knows what good technology for hospitality looks like. They have built the tools that hotels rely on, and they understand what it takes to earn trust in this industry.
- People Ventures, an operational Nordic early-stage VC, where Anders Kynde Frederiksen is General Partner. Anders is co-founder of Planday, acquired by Xero in 2021 – one of Denmark's biggest software successes in workforce management for industries like hospitality. With People Ventures on board, we gain not just a strong network, but real hands-on help scaling Opally.
- Lasse Kjær – Co-founder of Understory, the AI-powered experiences platform helping tour operators and experience providers manage bookings, payments, and marketing.
- Christian Markedal – Co-founder of DigitalGuest, the guest experience platform serving 500+ hotels across the Nordics, digitizing the entire guest journey.
- Jonatan Marc Rasmussen – Co-founder of All Gravy, the AI-driven employee experience platform helping hospitality brands reduce staff turnover.
- Bjarke Klinge Staun – Super angel investor and early backer of Lovable, with a portfolio of early-stage investments across AI and technology.
Where it started
Opally started with our founder coding at a hotel reception in Denmark, watching receptionists drown in admin work instead of taking care of the guests in front of them.
That problem has not changed. Receptionists still spend hours every day answering repetitive emails, taking calls, and managing chat inquiries – time that should be spent on true hospitality.
What has changed is that now we have the resources and the people behind us to move much, much faster.
What is already happening
This is not a bet on an idea. Hotels across Europe are already using Opally every day to handle thousands of guest inquiries. Every week, more properties are joining – from boutique hotels to historic manor houses and urban design hotels.
Opally integrates with hotel systems like Mews, Apaleo, and BookVisit to draft accurate, on-brand replies that receptionists review and send. The result is faster guest responses, fewer hours on repetitive emails, and more capacity for the moments that matter.
What comes next
This funding accelerates what we are already building: the AI layer that gives front desk teams their time back for true hospitality.
We are expanding across Europe, deepening our PMS integrations, and shipping new capabilities every week. The mission stays the same – empower hotel teams, never replace them.
